About the SyncSign Product Deployment¶
Keep the Hub and Display as close to each other as possible, and try to place the Hub and Display as high up in the same space as possible to avoid obstacles and sources of signal interference.
Effective communication distance between Hub and Display
The distance between Hub and Display (BLE Version):
For the indoor line-of-sight distance, it’s about 20m (65ft).
In outdoor free space, it’s about 40m (130ft).
If you are currently deploying multiple Hubs in the field, we recommend that you try to deploy the purchased Display (based on the BLE) within the Bluetooth scanning range of multiple Hubs (≥2), which will further enhance the stability of the Display in the field.
Function of the button on the right side of the 7.5-inch Display (BLE Version)¶
Sliding Button (Right Side): Currently, this button has no functional purpose. It is a reserved feature in the enclosure design for future development.
Pinhole Button (Right Side): Used for Setup. Press and hold for 1 second to enter Setup mode (blue status indicator will flash continuously).
External Button (Right Side):
Short Press (1 second): Triggers a manual refresh (requires the “Manual Refresh” feature to be enabled). The Display will connect to the SyncSign Cloud Server to retrieve the latest rendering tasks and update the screen.
Long Press (8-10 seconds): Hold until the green status indicator at the bottom-right corner flashes for the second time, then release. The Display will enter Wi-Fi Setup mode. After completing the setup, entering this mode again will display the LAN IP address for user configuration.
Long Press (15 seconds): Resets the Display (clears cached information). The Display will refresh and show the Wi-Fi Setup mode screen, indicating a successful reset.
7.5-inch Display Standalone Mode (Not Recommended)¶
The Display can independently complete the Wi-Fi Setup process and communicate with the SyncSign Cloud Server. Below is a detailed introduction to the standalone working mode.
In standalone mode, the Display supports two refresh methods: Scheduled Refresh and Manual Refresh.
1. Scheduled Refresh
After completing the Display Wi-Fi Setup process, access the Display web portal and configure the scheduled refresh interval on the Display settings page. The Display will periodically connect to the SyncSign Cloud Server at the specified interval to retrieve the latest rendering tasks and update the screen.
Note
The Display only connects to the Wi-Fi AP during each scheduled refresh cycle. If the server has no new rendering tasks available, the Display will not refresh.
This working mode increases battery consumption. The shorter the refresh interval, the faster the battery drains.
If you integrate a calendar data source, the Display cannot sync immediately when events change in this mode. This is because the Hub’s capability to receive event change notifications and push rendering tasks is not available. As a result, there may be delays in Display synchronization.
2. Manual Refresh
In the Display web portal, enable the “Manual Refresh” feature on the Display settings page. Once configured, press the external button on the right side of the Display (not the pinhole button) to trigger a refresh. The Display will connect to the SyncSign Cloud Server to retrieve the latest rendering tasks and update the screen.
Note
Similar to scheduled refresh, if the Display connects to the server and finds no new rendering tasks, it will not refresh the screen.
